Microsoft kondigde een paar dagen geleden aan dat het begon met de WHCP hardwarecertificering voor de volgende Windows-update, versie 24H2. Dit zorgt er in wezen voor dat de systeemvereisten van Windows 11 24H2 die in aanmerking komen voor compatibele CPU's en dergelijke, goed worden bijgehouden door hardwarepartners zoals AMD of Intel. Hoewel de systeemvereisten naar verwachting niet zullen veranderen, zullen zeer oude processors niet in staat zijn om het Windows 11 24H2 geschiktheidsblok te omzeilen, omdat ze geen PopCnt en SSE4.2 instructies hebben.

Interessant genoeg zal hetzelfde ook gelden voor Windows Server 2025, die ook officiële evaluatie-ISO's heeft ontvangen.
Daarnaast heeft het bedrijf deze week ook Windows 11 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2024 aangekondigd. Het bedrijf heeft ook de minimale systeemvereisten en ondersteunde processorfamilies bekendgemaakt. Ze zijn gecategoriseerd als Voorkeur en Optioneel. Interessant is dat SSD is toegevoegd als een minimale systeemvereiste, wat al een gerucht was over het client OS sinds medio 2022.
De minimale vereisten voor Windows 11 Enterprise IoT LTSC 2024, zowel de geprefereerde als de optionele, worden hieronder gegeven:
